Week 23 of 2026
Still doing a lot of interviews, but finally reaching the end in some of the interview loops. So far I’ve been through 21 recruiter screenings, the preliminary results are:
- 12 moved to the interview loop
- 5 rejections
- 1 withdrawn because the company is too early stage
- 3 withdrawn because they don’t offer visa sponsorship for Spain
Haven’t dedicated much time lately to Japanese. I’m only doing reviews in WaniKani.
“Graduating” again some albums that have been on my playlist for a few weeks, to give space to new ones.
Listened to
Albums/EPs:
- Favorite of the week: Cryptic Shift - Overspace & Supertime (Also on Bandcamp). I’ve been listening to this album since it was released. A future Technical Thrash Metal classic, it also has some Technical Death Metal Elements that reminded me a bit of Cynic and Atheist.
- aespa - Lemonade. Not that good but at least more consistent than their previous full album. The title track is a banger though
- Concrete Vehicles - Station on the Hill (Also on Bandcamp). So good! It’s like an alternate reality where the Windmill pub is located in Canada instead of the UK
- Ed O’Brien - Blue Morpho (Also on Bandcamp). Great release, very psychedelic and to make things even better, one day I was walking in a park listening to this album and I heard the birds singing through my headphones
- I-Rohm - Home. Another good EP from this independent K-Pop artist
- Macha y El Bloque Depresivo - Bronceado de Cantina. Great music but I have the moral obligation to say their first album is even better. For the non Chilean readers: “Bronceado de Cantina” is “Bar Tan”, the red color in your face after drinking too much
- Miasme - Keep Them at a Distance (Also on Bandcamp). Good Post Metal with many Black Metal elements
- tripleS - Love&Pop Pt.1. Nice K-Pop EP
- tsubi club - trinket (Also on Bandcamp). Tons of cool sample mangling
Recently released singles:
- Favorite of the week: Mastodon - Your Ghost Again. RIP Brent
- ALPHA DRIVE ONE - OMG!
- MIO - BWB
- SHINee - Atmos
- YOUNITE - POSE!
Other:
- Metallica - Ride the Lightning (Bass Only). RIP Cliff
- Queens of the Stone Age - No One Knows but everything is my voice
- Skream & Benga, live at Nuits Sonores 2026 – ARTE Concert
