Many recruiter screenings this week. Finally got more used to it.
One of the recruiter screenings was funny. It turns out they only offered visa sponsorship for the UK office, not for Spain. We wrapped it in less than 5 minutes 😅.
Finally starting level 8 in WaniKani. The last 2 months I’ve done mostly reviews instead of learning new words, so it took quite a while.
Listened to a bunch of good music this week. So many great releases this year, it’s hard to keep up!

Did some interviews this week. The last time was in October 2022. I’m slowly starting to feel less rusty.
Completely bombed a recruiter screening. At the end there was a Ruby trivia section
that’s recorded and sent to the engineering team for review. The last time I
touched Ruby in production was in 2022 and I dont’t remember Ruby details like
the difference between super and super() (I probably didn’t even know
back then 😆). Tried my luck answering the questions anyway instead of just
saying “I don’t know” and the strategy completely blown up in my face 😂.
I dislike trivia questions in interviews. Hopefully there won’t be too many in the future.
Finally received the NMIXX cap from March.
Had a great time at SUPERBOOTH26 this week. You can try new electronic instruments, talk to their makers and listen to many artists playing.

Recently deleted both my YouTube watchlist and my Spotify album backlog. Also trying to sit down and calmly listen to the albums I’ve been listening to during commute. WIP is waste 😜.

The “Albums/EPs” sub-section of “Listened to” only shows music that I’ve listened to with a good degree of attention. For example, I’ve listened to Cryptic Shift - Overspace & Supertime multiple times but only walking outside, that’s why I haven’t written about it yet.
For albums like Neurosis - An Undying Love for a Burning World I need to sit down and listen to them with the studio monitors before considering them “listened to”.
Finally, in this section I omit albums that are part of my “permanent collection”.
Lately, I’ve been thinking about making the section more useful. Maybe only mentioning favorites and adding extra commentary. At the moment the section is a bunch of links to music ranging from decent to great without much description.

Exchanged the Moog Matriarch for an Oberheim OB-6. I want only one synth with keys and for my setup that role is better fulfilled by a polysynth. The last change I want to make for this year is having a drum machine again.

Went to the cinema for the screening of the April 18 BTS concert in Japan. Some songs from the second part of the latest album that originally didn’t convince me improve in the context of a live concert.

Had to walk 2 km after the concert. The train wasn’t passing in the nearest train station, the bus neither. I joined a bunch of other people and walked to another train station.
Ate roll cake and mochi from IIMORI, a French-Japanese Pâtisserie. Tasty but a little expensive.
Got some Ghibli merchandising from Atomax for my family.
Went to the NMIXX pop-up store near the airport to get an overpriced cap, collaborating to JYPapi’s pension fund. The cap wasn’t available but I had already spent 30 minutes going there, so I ordered one home. Yay sunk cost fallacy!
Sold the Serge Mantra II panel. It’s a great synth but I don’t have enough space on my desk (or brain) for it.
